About the Author

Malcolm Taylor is the creator of DiveRecorder and retired from its ongoing development at the end of 2025. Malcolm created DiveRecorder after his earlier retirement from a distinguished professional career as an accountant, company secretary, financial administrator, and computer systems manager. Born in Glasgow during the Second World War, Malcolm was educated in Edinburgh, where he has lived and worked for most of his life.

Malcolm’s involvement in diving began at university and spans more than sixty years, encompassing roles as an athlete, coach, official, administrator, and international team representative. He was a founding member of the Edinburgh Diving Club in 1971 and has served the club continuously since that time, including a lengthy period as President. He now holds the positions of Honorary President and Life Member.

Over more than three decades, Malcolm served on district and national diving committees, including periods as Convener of both, and represented the sport internationally as a judge, coach, and team manager, including at three Commonwealth Games.

DiveRecorder represents Malcolm’s enduring contribution to a sport that has given him a lifetime of challenge, enjoyment, and satisfaction, and stands as a lasting part of his legacy.
